The Immortal Citadel is an octagonal city-fortress constructed bu the Phoenix Knights to garrison their numbers, as well as to serve as a roost for the Phoenix. The Citadel is built in an octaganal spiral that rises around a limestone peak. The outer wall rises eighty feet tall and sits twenty-five feet thick. Guard towers are constructed at every corner of the octagon and at the halfway marks on the walls. The first rise of the spiral itself houses apartments, businesses, and temples. The upper levels of the rise house the barracks, smiths, training areas, and defenses of the city. At the top of the tower is a nest woven from the trunks of entire trees.
According to the legends of the Phoenix Knights, it was this spot that the Phoenix first appeared to their ancestors and called for the formation of the Phoenix Order. Clerics often claim that it was the goddess Taaia who sent the Phoenix.
When the undead laid siege to the citadel the roost atop the peak ignited and the Phoenix manifested, incinerating the invading undead. The citadel radiates with positive energy, making it impossible for the undead to occupy the structure. The roost atop the citadel ignited during the appearance of the Phoenix and has remained burning to this day.
