The Salt Tower is actually a group of towers surrounded by a massive ring wall. The five exterior towers are reserved for social purposes, while the central tower houses the populace.
The Tower of Black Sand is the tower of craftsmen. Smiths, carpenters, tanners, and masons all conduct their business within this tower.
The Tower of Red Stone is the tower of the warrior. The finest warriors of the Sphinx Knights gather here to train their guardsmen and recruits.
The Tower of Glass is the tower of healers. Every aspect of health, from childbirth to death, is dealt with within the walls of the tower.
The Tower of Mirrors is devoted to the mystic arts. The arcane and ancient mysteries are explored by devoted sorcerers and scholars.
The Tower of Green Wood is a columnar garden irrigated by an intricate network of channels and Archimedes’ screws that draw water up from the natural spring at it’s base.
The Salt Tower is the largest in diameter and rises above the others by almost half their height. The population of the tower live in ancient apartments that begin on the lower levels as studio-size rooms and get progressively larger the higher they go. The highest level is an airy manse in which the city’s governor lives. There are 5 gates with a double portcullis on each.
The exterior towers rise twenty to thirty stories with a diameter of about 4 city blocks, while the Salt Tower rises nearly fifty and spans roughly 8 city blocks. The ring wall rises 6 stories high and is over one hundred feet thick. The wall is lined with siege engines and is heavily patrolled by knights.
